Weathergrams was a quiet experiential element created to honor lives lost during the pandemic; patients, colleagues, friends, and family—within the context of a post-pandemic emergency nursing conference. Rather than a formal program or scripted moment, this experience was designed as an open invitation. Nurses were asked to write a name, memory, or message on small paper tags, which were then collected and later installed outdoors at the organization’s headquarters. Hung among trees and allowed to weather naturally through the winter solstice to the spring equinox, the weathergrams became a living ritual; acknowledging grief, holding space for remembrance, and allowing time and nature to play a role in the process. This work reflects a design approach rooted in attunement: sensing what people needed but may not have been able to name, and creating a container where care, reflection, and release could coexist.
